This monograph contains the results of research on butterflies in Fruška Gora National Park, Serbia. The data presented are primarily obtained by faunistic investigations consisting of field work on collecting specimens, and by laboratory work on analyzing general characteristics, systematics, taxonomy, comparative morphological features and determination of butterfly specimens collected. The research has been conducted during an eleven-year period (2001-2011). Field research has covered 18 localities within Fruška Gora National Park and its close neighborhood. A total of 115 species of butterflies encountered daily were registered during our research and from available literature.
UTM maps for all the species found and photographs of most of them are given in separate chapters. Zoogeographical distribution is presented according to the number of species classified in 15 subfamilies. All 115 species recorded in Fruška Gora National Park are classified in 2 superfamilies, 5 families, 15 subfamilies and 67 genera. During our investigations, 24 migratory species of butterflies were found in Fruška Gora.
Generally, it may be concluded that Fruška Gora National Park is not enough investigated. A great number of micro localities should he more comprehensively investigated. However, the results integrated and presented in this monograph point to the impressive potential of diversity of Lepidoptera in Fruška Gora National Park.
