About this book

Language: Spanish

Volume 11 covers the Smilacaceae. This family has a rather asymmetrical taxonomical distribution, with the subfamily Ripogonoideae containing 1 genus and 7 species, and the subfamily Smilacoideae containing 3 genera and some 400 species. The genus Smilax is the only one found in Mexico, and contains 20 species. Of those, only 1 species, Smilax moranensis, is found in the Tehuacán–Cuicatlán Valley of central Mexico.
