This book contains a revision of the genus Agrilaxia Kcrremans, 1903 of Central and North America.

Three new species-groups are defined (A. (A.) fasciata, A. (A.) flavimana, A. (A.) hespenheidei species-groups) and 19 new species and 1 subspecies are described, illustrated, keyed and compared with the most similar species: Agrilaxia (A.) angustivertex sp. nov. (Panama), A. (A.) botran sp. nov. (Guatemala), A. (A.) catenulata sp. nov. (Mexico), A. (A.) chamela sp. nov. (Mexico), A. (A.) cuprina sp. nov. (Mexico), A. (A.) globulifrons sp. nov. (Mexico). A. (A.) guatemalae sp. nov. (Guatemala), A. (A.) humeralis sp. nov. (Mexico). A. (A.) macraei sp. nov. (Mexico), A. (A.) manfredi sp. nov. (Nicaragua), A. (A.) minima sp. nov. (Mexico), A. (A.) nelsoni sp. nov. (Mexico), A. (A.) nigroflava sp. nov. (Panama), A. (A.) oaxacae sp. nov. (Mexico), A. (A.) perdomo sp. nov. (Nicaragua), A. (A.) robusta sp. nov. (Mexico), A. (A.) rolciki sp. nov. (Mexico), A. (A.) texana sp. nov. (U.S.A.), A. (A.) westcotti sp. nov. (Mexico) and A. (A.) cordigera septentrionalis subsp. nov. (Mexico).

Lectotypes are designated for Anthaxia fasciata Waterhouse,1889, Agrilaxia dohrni Obenberger, 1924 and Agrilaxia schmidti Obenberger, 1924. A neotype is designated for Agrilus nanus Dugés, 1891 (currently Agrilaxia nana) and the species is redescribed. New synonyms are suggested for Agrilaxia (A.) fasciata (Waterhouse, 1889) = A. (A.) jaliscoana (Bilý, 1993) syn. nov. = A. (A.) michoacana (Bílý, 1993) syn. nov., Agrilaxia (A.) solarii Théry, 1911 = A. (A.) schmidti Obenberger, 1924 syn. nov. and Agrilaxia (A.) costaricensis Obenberger, 1922 = A. (A.) simillima (Cobos, 1972) syn. nov. Finally Agrilaxia (A.) arizonae (Obenberger, 1923) is ressurected as a valid species from the synonymy of A. (A.) fIavimana (Gory, 1841).
