The Reserva Florestal Adolpho Ducke is a large reserve in the heart of the Amazon region just outside the city of Manaus, in an attempt to preserve some of Brazil’s bountiful natural heritage. This field guide provides readers with detailed accounts of lizard behavior and ecology. Illustrated with photographs and line drawings, it is written in a two-column bilingual format with Portuguese and English side by side. This book also provides an evolutionary classification and should allow anyone to identify any of the 35 lizard species found in the Reserva Florestal Adolpho Ducke. This guide was written specifically for lizards known to occur around Manaus, but it should also be quite helpful for people working or visiting other parts of the central Amazonian basin. Many species that occur near Manaus are much more widespread.
