The Italian naturalist Francesco Minà Palumbo (1814-1899) conducted many studies in Madonie, a mountainous area in the middle of the northern Sicilian coast and made drawings of everything he saw. The ability to illustrate any kind of object or living creature allowed Francesco Minà Palumbo to create a large body of valuable scientific drawings. His drawings of the wild flora of the Madonie are his only contribution to this field. He wrote nothing on this subject, but his drawings are an important source of useful information. All plates in this edition are accompanied by descriptions, information on distribution, blooming times, etc. and are bundled in four volumes:
Vol. 1: Reader's Guide
Vol. 2: Plants
Vol. 3: Fungi, Plants, Animals
Vol. 4: Birds
