About this book

Language: Estonian with five-page English summary and English, Estonian, and scientific nomenclature

Linnuatlas: Eesti Haudelindude Levik ja Arvukus is the most comprehensive book on Estonian breeding birds in the last 25 years. This long-awaited work is based on fieldwork carried out between 2003 and 2009 and is the result of the input of more than 800 volunteer workers.

The bird atlas is illustrated with colour photos and features:
- descriptions of the distribution of 229 breeding bird species in the world and in the world, and overviews of bird habitats, settlement history, abundance and risk factors in Estonia
- more than 660 maps describing the distribution patterns of each species during the compilation of the new (2003-2009) and old (1976-1982) atlases and a comparison of the two atlas periods
- overview charts for the presence and timing of each breeding, nesting and migrating species.

In addition, the bird atlas contains several in-depth articles, including:
- how the compilation of bird atlases has gone in our country and elsewhere
- what are the specificities of bird censuses and monitoring
- how breeding birds have developed in Estonian areas since the end of the ice age
- what landscapes and habitats are used by breeding birds in Estonia today

Summary in Estonian:

Lisaks leiab linnuatlasest mitmeid põhjalikke artikleid, teiste seas:
- kuidas on käinud linnuatlaste koostamine meil ja mujal
- millised on linnuloenduste ja -seirete eripärad
- kuidas on haudelinnustik kujunenud Eesti aladel pärast jääaja lõppu
- milliseid maastikke ja elupaiku kasutavad haudelinnud Eestis täna
