Mangroves of India: A Pictorial Field Guide aims to provide detailed information on the current status of mangroves in India and the diversity of the mangrove flora among the coastal states. Detailed information on the true mangrove species along with their salient identifying characteristics is provided supported by numerous photographs. The book provides a thorough insight into the adaptations of mangroves, the diversity of true mangroves, and their distribution among the coastal states of India. Dichotomous keys to the family, genera and species are included for easy and accurate identification of the species. A total of 42 true mangrove species under 23 genera belonging to 16 families are enumerated. Local names, and notes on habit, habitat, ecology and uses are provided. The book furthermore provides descriptions along with photographs of a total of 68 common mangrove-associated species. A short chapter on the common mangrove fauna includes numerous photographs.
