Seven contributions, presented by editors Valdez (fishery and wildlife sciences, New Mexico State U.) and Krausman (wildlife and fisheries science, U. of Arizona), synthesize information on the various aspects of the life histories and management of wild sheep. Separate chapters are provided on the natural histories of thinhorn, Rocky Mountain, and desert bighorn sheep. Other topics include the distribution and abundance of the animals, adaptive strategies, diseases, and management. Also included is an appendix exploring the cytogenetics and genetics of wild sheep.
