About this book

Small and beautiful, with wonderful shapes and colours, nudibranchs are often a diver's favourite subject underwater. 80 species found in Cape Town's water, from the rare to the common, are described in this guide. Each species receives its own page, providing information on characteristic features, distribution, habitat, and more, as well as up to four photographs. These show different individuals, highlighting their variability, and include, where possible, the egg ribbon or mass.

Biography

Guido Zsilavecz is a founder member of SURG and a regular contributor. He started diving in 1989, and took up underwater photography on his 27th dive. Early on he developed a strong lasting interest in the underwater environment, with the emphasis on fishes. A desire to identify everything seen and photographed underwater led to the discovery, and subsequent description, of the bluespotted klipfish, Pavoclinus caeruleopuncatus.

Guido has written numerous articles for diving magazines, has contributed photographs to other fish identification guides, and has won awards and prizes for his photography. While he travels regularly to exotic diving locations around the world, he prefers Cape Peninsula waters most.
