This book is the first of its kind in the field of Moroccan palaeontology to give a broad overview. This book brings together a dozen chapters contributed by many teams of palaeontologists in different fields of specialization. The reader is introduced, in chronological order, to the main themes of vertebrate palaeontology developed in Morocco during a century of scientific research. The different chapters provide a historical overview and recent developments concerning the topics covered. The texts are amply illustrated and accompanied by an exhaustive bibliography. As such, the book does not only aim to give an overview of the main themes of Moroccan vertebrate palaeontology to specialists, but it can also constitute a reference work for students and young researchers and help them to better understand the different areas of research.

Le présent ouvrage est le premier livre de son genre dans le domaine de la paléontologie marocaine. Il ouvre grand les principales fenêtres de la paléontologie des vertébrés au Maroc. Ce livre rassemble une douzaine de chapitres qui sont les contributions de nombreuses équipes de paléontologues chacune dans son champ de spécialisation. Le lecteur est introduit, dans un ordre chronologique, aux principales thématiques de la paléontologie des vertébrés développées au Maroc depuis environ un siècle de recherche scientifique dans ce domaine. Les différents chapitre procurent un aperçu historique et les développements récents concernant les thématiques abordées. Les textes sont amplement illustrés et accompagnés d’une bibliographie exhaustive. En tant que tel, le livre ne vise pas seulement à donner un aperçu sur les principales thématiques de la paléontologie des vertébrés marocaine aux spécialistes, mais il peut aussi constituer un ouvrage de référence aux étudiants et aux jeunes chercheurs et les aider à mieux appréhender les différents domaines de recherche en paléontologue des vertébrés marocains.
