About this book

Language: German

The stag beetle is the largest and best-known central European beetle. It is strictly protected in Germany since 1935, which has been expanded in recent years on the European level. This volume contains an analysis of records made in recent years by a network of over 600 outdoor enthusiasts from over 225 locations in the area around Heidelberg and Mannheim. This book is rounded out with chapters containing a detailed literature review on deposits in Germany and Europe, an evaluation of swarming behaviour depending on the Moon's phase, an analysis of wood species important as development substrates for larvae, and an overview of major predators (birds, mammals, insects, etc.). The most important chapter is an overview of the many simple protective measures that can easily be taken by any nature lover in their garden, orchard, forest and woodland, home and road to help conserve beetles.
