About this book

Language: Japanese

Currently, we are experiencing an unprecedented fossil discovery rush. Hundreds of fossils are unearthed every day around the world, and dozens of new species are discovered each year. The discovery of a new species continues to expose errors and misconceptions in our knowledge about dinosaurs. What makes modern palaeontology so exciting is the steady stream of fossil discoveries and the evolution of analytical methods. The advent of high-tech analytical equipment not only helps us study recently discovered fossils but also gives us a chance to revisit fossils discovered decades ago. Computed tomography (CT) scans can be used to scan objects thinner than a human hair, and digital rendering can reproduce the dinosaurs' more precise movements. High-tech tools and new research methods are making it possible to vividly recreate the world in which dinosaurs lived. The cause of the extinction of dinosaurs, their ecology, how they moved, how they grew, how their eggs were coloured for camouflage, etc., are being clarified one after another. This book introduces in detail the results of dinosaur research, which has ushered in a new golden age, by making full use of abundant illustrations and CG images.
