India is home to about 600 reptiles which include three species of crocodile, 36 species of turtles and tortoises, 285 lizard species and 325 snake species belonging to 28 families. The central Indian state of Chhattisgarh is home to 12.5% of reptile species of the entire country i.e. 75 confirmed species under 47 genera from 22 families have been recorded here.
