This book is a long overdue synopsis of the Coleopterous fauna of Oxfordshire, both the Vice-county 23, and the modern administrative county established in 1974, which annexed the north of Berkshire (Vice-county 22), largely made up of the Vale of the White Horse administrative council area. For good measure, the authors have also included the Strepsiptera, a poorly known order of insects which were, for many years, known as Abnormal Coleoptera, and which, although no longer part of Coleoptera, are unlikely to be covered elsewhere any time soon.
