Discusses the visit of John and Elizabeth Gould, a well-known naturalist and illustrator respectively, to the New South Wales area of Australia. During their visit the Goulds aimed to collect, draw and describe the birds of Australia. On their return to England this data was reproduced in several volumes of books entitled The Birds of Australia.
