The Penguins of Boulders is a charming illustration into the lives of one of the most adorable and charismatic creatures on earth – the African penguin. Situated on the eastern shores of False Bay, and in the town of Simons Town, the Boulders area forms one of the only protected mainland breeding colonies of African penguin, on the entire African continent. Dirk Schmidt has captured more than 100 full colour images and provides interesting facts on the lives of these quaint animals allowing us a beautiful insight into this vulnerable bird species forming part of the vast diversity of life on the African continent.
Dr. Dirk Schmidt lives in Simons Town with his wife Jenny, and is an avid naturalist and conservationist, specialising in wildlife and action photography. He has a PhD in Business Management from the University of Pretoria and is currently the CEO for IBC Consulting.
