Malaria is an anicent protozoan disease transmitted by female Anopheles mosquitoes and is still a major public health problem in the world. India alone contributes 80% of malaria cases in Southeast Asia. In order to control the disease it is important to know the parasite and its vector.
This book will be useful reference for those working on morphotaxonomyof Anopheles. It provides a details account of morphology of all the stages of the lifecycle of Anopheles, i.e. egg, larva, pupa and adult, which will help in the identification of the genus Anopheles. The book compiles the detailed morphology, distribution, bionomics and details related to malaria transmission for six dominant vectors of human malaria in India. A simplified key to identify these species on the basis of the morphology of their eggs, larvae, pupae and adults is provided.
