These waterproof plates with detailed photographs of skates, rays and chimaeras from the Mediterranean region are designed to be a practical tool for data collectors in the field. They supplement FAO's field guide and cards available for FAO fishing area 37. The plates follow the systematic organization proposed by Eschmeyer, Fricke, and Van der Laan and the species inside the families are mentioned in alphabetical order according to genus. For each species, the International measures on conservation and management of sharks are up to date to 2016 accompanied by full references. This publication was prepared within the framework of the FAO EastMed Project Scientific and Institutional Cooperation to Support Responsible Fisheries in the Eastern Mediterranean.
