This volume describes the results yielded by the first systematic speleological expedition to the remote Indian Union State Nagaland, at the border with Myanmar. A total of 33 caves are described in detail. The biospeleological results of the expedition are also included and compared with neighbouring regions. Also, the funeral habits of the local population, using burial urns and wooden coffins deposited in caves, are dealt with in a separate chapter and discussed in their regional context.
