About this book

Language: Trilingual in French, German, and English

This brochure, limited to 5000 copies, was put together for the exhibition "Tropicales de Salon". The exhibition is dedicated to a family of plants named Gesneriads, in honour of Conrad Gessner, a Zürich naturalist of international renown, and celebrates the 500th anniversary of his birth this year.

Just like orchids and palm trees from the tropics, the Gesneriads conquered our homes. Of the 3,000 species of this family, some were selected for their flowers due to their amazing shapes and often bright and varied colours. These plants, with their outstanding horticultural potential, give us a glimpse of the immense biodiversity of the tropics.

The book can be read in French or, when flipping the book over to the other side, in German. The middle section of the book contains an English translation of the text in smaller print, without the illustrations.
