About this book

Language: Dutch

This is the second edition of the first Dutch field guide to allow identification of all 384 hoverfly species of the Netherlands and Belgium, an increase of two species compared to the first edition. Hoverflies have long been favourites of naturalists, but the large number of almost identical-looking species make it very hard to put a name to a species. This field guide will assist the reader with hundreds of macro photos to quickly and accurately identify species. The highly detailed illustrations reveal even the smallest details.

Next to over 1700 photos (compared to over 1600 photos in the first edition), Veldgids Zweefvliegen contains diagrams showing flight times and distribution maps. This offers an up-to-date image of their ecology, distribution, and flight times for both Belgium and the Netherlands. Because this book has taken into account all recent taxonomic developments, this book is an indispensable reference work and reliable guide for both the starting and the experienced entomologist.
