This DVD shows wildlife film producer Paul Wetton's encounters with British wildlife in 2017. Paul spent much of 2017 in the East Midlands and around the Lincolnshire coast filming some of our commoner birds as well as a few rarities like the juvenile Red-necked Phalarope at Covenham Reservoir and the juvenile Long-billed Dowitcher discovered closeby at Saltfleet. Winter passerines including some beautiful Bramblings were filmed along with many winter wildfowl. Pauls favourite being a close encounter with a pair of Goosander at Rufford Country Park where he also filmed Hawfinches in the car park. The rarities filmed included a Pine Bunting in Shropshire, Pacific Diver in Northumberland, White-billed Diver and a very confiding Bluethroat in Lincolnshire, the Hooded Merganser in Scotland and a Scop's Owl in Tyne and Wear.

During the warmer months, Paul filmed some insects and flowers along with the Bee Eaters that attempted to breed in East Leake quarry. Paul and Helen spent a week in the Cairngorm Mountains and surrounding areas searching for some of the Scottish rarities for another DVD that Paul is producing. A brief glimpse of some of the wildlife found is shown on this DVD. In mid-summer, Paul and Helen accompanied Pauls parents and Nephew to the Picos de Europa in Northern Spain for a high mountain wildlife filming trip where rare mountain birds and butterflies were admired. A short selection of this footage is shown which has now been made into a DVD Searching for Butterflies in Northern Spain. At the close of summer and a visit to Kelling Heath to search for Dartford Warblers and other heathland wildlife, Paul completes the first disc with a visit to East Leake Quarry to enjoy the colourful Bee Eaters that had settled there.

In part 2, Paul begins with a second trip to East Leake Quarry followed by trips into the Peak District, Covenham Reservoir and Tyne and Wear. The DVD ends with a final few trips into Derbyshire to look at the snowy landscape and search for Hawfinches and Parrot Crossbills. The entire DVD set was filmed in High Definition and widescreen using Pauls Canon XL-H1 and shows approximately 2 hours of high quality uncompressed digital video with complete menu accessed using your DVD players remote.
