From the preface:
"Environment is an integral part of our life and plays an immense role in our daily activities. We cannot remain untouched by the environmental elements even for a second! Biodiversity comprises plants (producers), animals (consumers), microbes (decomposers) and their ecosystems/habitats or more precisely protected areas.
Biodiversity and protected areas are interconnected and interlinked delicate and sensitive components of the environment. Here, two way interconnection ls the rule of nature as well of the biota and their habitats, which need to be studied in time and space perspective continuously as the quantification and understanding vary accordingly. There ls an urgent need to set priorities and integrate strategies and policies for the sustainable utilisation and conservation of biodiversity and sustainable use of biological resources into plans, programmes and policies. The loss of biological diversity from the genetic code that shapes living things to plant, animals and microbial communities to the landscapes around us, has reached a crisis.
The book is universal in approach for use. lt is intended to serve as a reference book for the 10+2 Science, 10+2 Environmental Education, Undergraduate and Graduate Students of Environmental Sciences, Life Science, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Forestry, Agriculture and many other allied courses and to be of interest to the general reader."
