About this book

Language: Japanese with scientific nomenclature

This series gives an unprecedented insight into the fascinating world of ancient creatures, and tickles and awakens the reader's intellectual curiosity.

Volume 5 in this series on newly discovered extinct creatures deals with the Triassic (250 to 200 million years ago). The Palaeozoic was marked by by the biggest global extinction event at the end of the Permian, after which the Mesozoic started. During the Triassic, the first period of the Mesozoic Era, the dinosaurs appeared, but they weren't the only remarkable creatures of this era. Marine and flying reptiles, including pterosaurs, also made their appearance. And then there was the group that partially survived the end of the Permian, the synapsids, which competed for survival with the emerging dinosaurs.
