About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and Chinese

This red data book is divided into two parts: the general theory and the individual entries. The general introduction introduces the background and methods of the Red List evaluation; it analyzes the diversity status of freshwater fish in China in detail, such as the number of species, the proportion of families and genera, and the geographical distribution; it analyzes the results of the Red List evaluation in detail and summarizes the number and proportion of threatened species; and the classification, distribution and threat factors of each species. The monographs are the main body of this book. The relevant information of 358 Chinese freshwater fishes is evaluated in detail, including classification status, assessment information, geographic distribution, population status, habitat, ecology and ecosystem, threat factors, protection level, and the protection actions and related documents. The appendix gives the species list and assessment information of 1,591 freshwater fish species (excluding alien species) in China.
