It includes keys to the larvae, subimagos, and imagos, illustrated with numerous new photos, allowing a quick comparison between species. The species descriptions discuss biology and distribution. The Netherlands is home to 64 species, of which Paraleptophlebia werneri is described here as new to science. For Belgium, the Dusky Yellowstreak Electrogena lateralis has been observed for the first time, bringing the total number of species for Belgium to 68. Luxembourg is home to 47 species.
