The Soil Emergence Trap is designed as a way of collecting insects from areas of soil or other substrates. It consists of a framework made up from individual poles and connectors onto which threads a tent made from black polyester mesh. It has flaps around the base which can be covered with soil to keep the insects inside, and loops at each of the corners allow it to be pegged down in windy conditions (pegs not included). A large dome-shaped zipper in one panel allows easy access to the inside and the collecting bottle at the apex is held in place by a zip-up pocket.
