The Squirrel Hair Trap is designed to determine the presence/ absence of red squirrels or to monitor known populations. The trap is designed to collect hair samples on sticky tabs that are located at each end of the baited trap (sunflower seeds, peanuts or maize). The hair can then be collected and anaylsed back at a lab. The hair trap is composed of a section of square-ended, black plastic which measures 300mm x 60mm x 60mm. Each trap comes complete with hook and loop fixing straps and spare sticky tabs for following surveys. We would recommend tubes to be placed at intervals of 100–200m in lines or a grid pattern for the optimum survey .
