About this product

The Ultramic384K BLE is a high-quality device that can operate as both an ultrasonic USB microphone or an unattended audio and ultrasonic recorder. It has an integrated analogue to digital converter able to achieve a 384Khz sampling rate - this means that you can record sounds up to approximately 190kHz. The full speed USB 2.0 port allows easy connection to your PC, iOS, Android smartphone or tablet and to embedded Linux systems. When used with an external USB battery, the low power, integrated 32-bit microcontroller makes it the perfect device for long term autonomous recording. Only 30mA at 5 Volts of power is required when operating at full speed. Connection to host devices is driverless which adds to ease of use. Hardware amplification gain is set via two switches. It is easy to disassemble the device in order to gain access to the SD card slot, back-up battery, pre-amplification switches and push button. There is also Bluetooth connection (used only for easy configuration of the microphone if used as an autonomous recorder). The aluminium tube is connected to the circuit ground plane and it reduces the sensor vibration and minimizes electrical interference. The FG microphone is very sensitive, with a good signal/ noise ratio and a flat frequency response.

Applications for this device include the detecting and recording of biological ultrasounds for bioacoustics studies on bats, insects, rodents and cetaceans (when connected to a hydrophone). It is also highly useful for impact studies involving wind farms and bats.
