The fourth part of the atlas of the mammals of the Czech Republic covers three rodent families – hamsters (Cricetidae), voles (Arvicolidae) and dormice (Gliridae). Altogether, 10 species have been found to be members of the Czech mammal fauna. For each species, a complete list of known localities and notes to its occurrence, status, habitat requirements, variability, subspecies level and a review of so far performed studies are given. Most of the occurrence records have been compiled from literature sources and completed with the extensive unpublished data of museums and other research institution collections. Furthermore, several tens of collaborators, both amateurs and professional zoologists, contributed many unpublished records and observations to this survey. For some species (muskrat and common hamster), questionnaire data have been evaluated.
