For the first time, the present book collects pictures of 600 species of Mediterranean Gastropods, utilizing drawings as the main instrument to better represent the external anatomy of species, even of microscopic dimensions, almost impossible to photograph with all details. Therefore, the book is a new item in the taxonomy of Mediterranean molluscs both for experts and for beginners. After the introductive section on the anatomy of gastropods of the different taxonomical groups and on the description and comparisons of the represented species, the book contains 75 colour plates, 56 of which are dedicated to drawings of the external soft parts of the species and 19 to photographs of the shell of the specimens treated.

Questo libro è di notevole importanza scientifica documentando per la prima volta le immagini dei molluschi vivi di 600 specie di Gasteropodi marini  di cui vengono disegnati i particolari anatomici, anche molto piccoli, del mollusco vivo.  Sono 76 tavole a colori sui molluschi vivi e 19 dedicate alla loro conchiglia.
