About this book
Sustainable development should inspire all sectoral policies having an impact on nature and the environment. This is especially true with regard to tourism development in Western European and Central and Eastern countries. The colloquy in Cyprus on the theme of sustainable tourism development covered a wide range of the problems arising from this type of development, in particular in coastal areas. It allowed for the exchange of experiences between the various European countries, the bringing together of ideas and the discussion of concrete solutions which could be implemented around the Mediterranean, in Western, Central and Eastern Europe.
