Indroda Nature Park is spread over an area of about 400 ha in Gandhinagar – the capital city of Gujarat, India. The Park is divided into two parts on the banks of river Sabarmati. The western part is known as Indroda Nature Park and the eastern part of the river Sabarmati is known as Wilderness Park. It is looked after by the Gujarat Ecological Education and Research (GEER) Foundation
The first edition of this field guide was published with the title Handbook of Birds in and around Indroda Nature Park, but has been retitled Field Guide to Birds in and around Indroda Nature Park for the second edition, due to its greater suitability to use in the field during bird watching. This is an enlarged edition as the authors have added 19 species to the total 182 species in the first edition. Thus, this revised edition has pictures and identification text for a total of 201 species.
This little book has been found to be very useful to the participants of GEER Foundation's training programme on bird-watching. This second edition would be very useful to them and all those interested in wild birds of Indroda Nature Park owing to the greater number of species incorporated.
