This volume is divided into two parts. The general part discusses the research history, morphological characteristics, taxonomic system, the geographical distribution and ecological distribution of the golden algae (Chrysophyceae). It covers 16 genera, 137 species, 7 varieties and 2 variants of the genus Chrysophyta, Chromophyceae, Chaetoceros, and Ceratophytonae, of which 4 species are newly discovered and named in China. Each species is described in detail using Chinese specimens. Plates show drawings of cell morphology, and photomicrographs and electron micrographs of cells.
