The fourth and final volume of the Flora of the Sultanate of Oman deals with all petaloid and non-petaloid monocotyledonous families found in Oman. It includes 21 families and 246 taxa, following Cronquist’s (1981) system. with explanatory notes where the APG IV (2016) classification or recent molecular evidence treats the families or genera differently. it contains the Poaceae. the family represented by the most (172) taxa found in Oman. For each family keys are provided to all genera and species. Species descriptions are accompanied with notes on distribution, habitat, flowering and fruiting times, conservation status, and uses where relevant. Distribution maps are provided for all described species.

This is simultaneously volume 56 of Scripta Botanica Belgica.
