This is the second part of a series of books dealing with the free-living nematodes of Hungary. This volume discusses the two remaining orders of the Secernentia: Aphelenchida and Tylenchida, and one order of the third class Penetrantia: Enoplida. Of the Aphelenchida 29 genera and 437 species, of the Tylenchida 211 genera and 2876 species, whilst of the Enoplida 25 continental (non-marine) genera and 252 species are enumerated. That means this volume treats – mentions and/or discusses – altogether 265 valid genera and 3565 valid species. All the families and continental genera of the mentioned orders are presented and commented on from a taxonomical point of view. Since correct identifications are very important in every field of nematology, the author has provided keys to all families and genera.
Genera that contain species reported from Hungary are discussed in detail. World lists of species and keys to their European representatives are added. Each species observed to date in Hungary is particularly presented, and several of them are illustrated. The author proposes some nomenclatorial changes: seven homonymous genera and some species are renamed, and a number of new combinations and synonymizations initiated.
