About this book

Language: Italian with scientific nomenclature and titles and didactic texts bilingual in English and Italian

The purpose of this publication is provide the mushroom lover with in-depth information of the two organoleptic characteristics, smell and taste, and to provide an orientation tool for the identification of fungi belonging to several macromycete genera. This is not merely intended as identification for gastronomic purposes, but also educational (nevertheless, a whole chapter is devoted exclusively to edible mushrooms, also with indications on the ways of consumption). The unique feature of organochromatic configurations will be a further stimulus to focus on the unique fundamental macroscopic properties of the illustrated species and, in theory, of any other fungus. As in previous contributions, the author wished to insert some new photographs, halfway between those in the natural environment and in the studio, with the specific intent to introduce photographic techniques that are always original and captivating.

Features:
Information on anatomy, physiology and human psychology; methods and tests for the perception of smells and tastes; examples of odour classification; 1545 descriptions of smells and tastes, their explanation and corresponding fungal species; information on the toxicity and edibility of the mushrooms described; iconography and description of edible fungi, including cultivated ones; over 3,000 taxa considered, between genera, species and other taxonomic categories; 760 photographs; 236 colour illustrations, 7 of which include human anatomy and spatial configurations, 163 fungal species and 66 symbolic views; 35 black-and-white line drawings; titles and didactic texts in Italian and English.
