About this book

Ecology is the study of organisms and the way in which they interact with the environment. In a time where a lot of focus is placed upon the state of our environment and conservation, our gardens and local green spaces can be havens for a huge amount of diversity. In Heston, London, where the author grew up, the garden and local fields have provided him with endless engagement and wonder. It’s astounding the level of diversity that seemingly ignored areas of land harbour as well as the number of species that use and depend on our gardens. The author wishes to share what he has found in the relatively short amount of time he has spent monitoring both his garden and the local playing fields in this small village of Heston. Nature is always full of surprises.
