From the publisher's announcement:

William Buckler's 9 volumes on the larvae of the butterflies and moths represented a monumental feat of artistry over nearly 30 years. Published by the Ray Society in 1886 and 1888, Volumes 2 and 3 cover the known British species of Sphinges and Bombyces at the time. Some of the nomenclature has since changed, but the species and life-cycle descriptions and the 36 plates of hand-coloured illustrations remain invaluable, although they are rarely seen.

Pisces Conservation are delighted to release these 2 volumes in electronic form, with the kind permission of the Ray Society. We plan to publish the other volumes in the future.

Vols. 2 & 3 are available on one CD-ROM, for Windows PCs and Macs, with fully searchable text and hyperlinks for ease of navigation.

The quality of reproduction of illustrations and text is excellent.

The books are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format (with free Reader software supplied), allowing high-quality printing of the text and plates.

In addition, the plates are available separately on the CD-ROM as high-resolution images.
