Story of two teams of 21st-century mammoth hunters. Stone follows the two teams of explorers - one Russian/Japanese, the other a French-led consortium - as they seek out the remains of a mammoth in the Siberian Arctic. Armed with GPS, ground-penetrating radar, and Soviet-era military helicopters, the explorers find intact woolly mammoth DNA, and aim to uncover clues about how it lived and also, to determine if it could be brought back from extinction by using its DNA.
