About this book

Language: German

Nordwestliches Harzvorland is also called "The classic square mile of geology". As with almost any other town in Central Europe, it's an abundance of rocks that range from the Palaeozoic to recent deposits that attracted early modern naturalists such as Alexander von Humboldt. Tectonic shifts in the old rocks with their ore deposits are in the area between Salzgitter, Goslar and Wernigerode, which also display new red sandstone, limestone, Keuper, Jurassic, Upper and Lower Cretaceous. You can also find numerous salt domes here amongst others, which are a feature of this landscape and are fossils from the Cretaceous period. Embark, along with Friedhart Knolle, Stefan Mohr and Marion Seitz, on an exciting journey through nearly 500 million years of Earth.
