The Royal Entomological Society is a global community of insect scientists and enthusiasts with a mission to show everyone how valuable and formidable insects are.  They publish seven scientific journals and fund entomological activities with grants, awards and bursary programmes.  They aim to increase public understanding of insect science with outreach activities such as the annual Insect Week in June and an award-winning garden at Stratford Cross, East London.  RES empower and support the entomological community through thier membership and focus on equality, diversity and inclusion.

Please visit the Royal Entomological Society website to find out more.

The Royal Entomological Society Educational Bug Hunting kit contains everything an aspiring entomologist needs to catch and study live specimens. The kit includes our Standard sweep net – a lightweight aluminium framed net featuring a soft calico bag, ideal for catching insects from grass and long shrubs. The NHBS pooter allows for the safe collection of small or delicate invertebrates without the risk of harming them. The specimens can either be identified with the aid of the magnifying lid built into the pooter itself or can be transferred to the included 60ml collecting pots and viewed in detail using the 10x magnification hand lens.

Identification is aided by the inclusion of the - Naturalist's Guide to the Insects of Britain and Northern Europe an easy-to-use guide to 280 insect species most commonly seen in Britain and Northern Europe. The accompanying high-quality images from Britain’s top nature photographers make this guide an ideal user-friendly introduction to insect identification.
