About this book

Language: German

The cover picture of the sixth installment of the series Seltene Vögel in Deutschland is graced by a magnificent squacco heron. The heart of the 68-page report is, as usual, the DAK rarity report on the evidence of rare bird species in Germany in 2016. The highlights include the first evidence of masked shrikes, song sparrows and Siberian accentors. For the first time in more than 100 years, buff-bellied pipit and Cretzschmar's bunting were again observed in Germany. Other noteworthy observations from 2016 are Germany's third observation of lesser crested tern, the third and fourth observations of an Eastern black redstart, as well as the fourth observation of the ivory gull, greenish warbler, black-eared wheatear and trumpeter finch. These and several hundred other observations are presented in detail and with numerous photos and additional graphics and maps.
