About this book

Language: Trilingual in English, Dutch, and German

This is not a book about one species, but rather a book about the territory where this unique butterfly lives. The Large Copper (Lycaena dispar batava) lives in the nature reserves Weerribben and Rottige Meente in the Netherlands and hopefully it will return to the Wieden soon as a result of correct land management. In this largest lowland peat-bog of Northwestern-Europe one can find the Large Copper, a butterfly that lives nowhere else in the world. Philip Friskorn moved to the village of Oldemarkt in 1996, calling the nature reserve Weerribben his backyard, and has captured a part of the flora and fauna in this photographic book.
