This special proceedings volume of ZooKeys contains selected contributions presented during the 16th International Congress of Myriapodology, which was held in Olomouc, Czech Republic from 20 to 25 July 2014. The volume consists of 18 contributions with 57 authors from Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, United Kingdom and USA. The articles cover a wide range of topics regarding myriapods, such as taxonomy, phylogeny, ecology, functional anatomy and morphology.
