About this book

Language: French

This book presents more than 370 species of orchids from Madagascar, inventoried during 20 years of expeditions organized by the French Society of Orchidophilia (Société Française d’Orchidophilie). It brings together more than 750 photographs and 1,500 georeferenced observations.

After an introduction on the actions of the SFO in Madagascar, a chapter recalls the atmosphere, the adventures of the journeys and the practical difficulties on the ground. Another gives a broad panorama of the natural environments of Madagascar. Each species is described in detail, a distribution map with a list of observations and photographs all taken from the wild complete each description. Nearly 100 species are illustrated here for the first time, including 12 species new to science.

This book scientifically validates years of research in the field and is an irreplaceable identification guide.
