About this book

Language: Spanish

This book is the second of the volumes in the Biota Rioplatense series dedicated to the most common native and exotic shrubs in the Río de la Plata region on the border of Argentina and Uruguay. This second volume includes descriptions and photographs of 100 species, arranged alphabetically by their most widespread common name in the region, indicating other common names in different languages, family, updated scientific names and their synonyms, main morphological characteristics, geographical distribution, flowering times and fruiting, ornamental and other uses of interest, cultivation and propagation requirements, observations, data on the genus to which the species belongs and reference herbarium material. Numerous species, cultivars, and hybrids of the Rosa genus have been excluded from this work, as they are generally difficult to identify. This volume also includes the meaning of the scientific names, a glossary, a bibliography, a systematic index, another index with scientific and common names, and a general key for the identification of the 200 species treated in Arbustos 1 and Arbustos 2.
