About this book

Language: German

Flower ecology explores the relationships between flowers and their pollinators. While Volume 1 of this two-part series focused on the animal partner, the second volume examines the sexual life of plants. It asks the question of how sexuality in plants developed in the first place, how they coped with the change from water to land and how they found and shaped their mode of reproduction to reach their goal: the production of new offspring with new properties to meet the ever-changing demands of life. Something in which plants show incredible ingenuity: they attract and reward their pollinators with nectar and ambrosia, but they also secure the services of their animal partners through fraud and deceit.
