About this book

Language: German

The honey bee is the third most important farm animal in the food chain of humans. Three quarters of all crops that feed humanity are pollinated by bees. However, in recent decades there has been a global, alarming mass death of entire bee colonies. If this trend continues, it would not only mean a financial loss of billions, but it could also have a disastrous impact on biodiversity and on the nutritional status of people.

In
Das Lautlose Sterben der Bienen the author considers the possible causes of this silent extinction and discusses not only the Varroa mite, but also human error and the agribusiness corporations as the main cause. He describes the threatening consequences of a world without honey bees, but also provides possible solutions to the disaster ways out that will benefit both the agricultural economy as well as human individuals.
