This book is a summary of taxonomic studies of the fungal genus Xylaria in China and contains five parts: introduction, species monographs, appendix, reference and index. The introduction briefly describes the economic importance of Xylaria, research overview, a brief history of Xylaria world research, a brief history of Chinese research, biological characteristics, etc. The monographs describe 132 species of Xylaria in China, with 78 pages of drawings. This section also includes sub-species keys. Each species includes rectification, synonymy and its literature citation, morphological description and distribution. The domestic distribution of each species is quoted based on the specimens studied by the author. The types of specimens not studied are described in the appendix.

本书是我国炭角菌属分类研究的总结，包括绪论、专论、附录、参考文献和索引五大部分。绪论部分简要地叙述了炭角菌经济重要性，研究概况等。炭角菌世界研究简史，中国研究简史，生物学特性等。专论中共描述了我国炭角菌属132种，附图版78面。包括属下分种检索表。每个种包括正名、异名及其文献引证、形态描述和分布等。每个种记载的国内分布是根据作者研究的标本引注的。未研究标本的种类在附录中说明。
